By Hannah Brozek.  There are no better settings than Pismo Beach and Avila Beach for the 10th Annual AMGEN Tour of California. America’s most successful cycling race has chosen theses two Central Coast seaside towns to serve as Stage 4 and 5 for their eight-day, prestigious event.

Featuring elite professional teams and athletes from around the world, the AMGEN Tour of California makes its way throughout the state from May 10th-17th.  The tour will begin its fourth stage on the Pismo Beach Pier.  The cycling road race features a thrilling course of over 100 miles spanning throughout San Luis Obispo County and ends in Avila Beach.

Plans are already underway for Pismo Beach and Avila Beach to extend their classic California hospitality to the tour’s participants and spectators.  Preparation for this year includes outreach by local leaders to inform area residents and students about the race drumming up excitement and community support.

Last year, Pismo Beach held a citywide party to celebrate the AMGEN Tour of California coming into town with an evening wine walk and street fair before the start of the next stage of the race on the following morning.
