GleanSLO as Beneficiary to 6th Annual Wine Waves & Beyond

Boutique Hotel Collection brings us another season of great philanthropic events that  will be hosted in  Pismo Beach, Avila Beach, and San Luis Obispo.  The first is the 6th Annual Wine Waves & Beyond,  celebrating both Classic California surf culture, and Central Coast Wines, from Wednesday, April 29 through Sunday, May 3, 2015.

This event is pure fun! We can enjoy five days of unforgettable events held in charming, laid back seaside towns, as we embrace the love of California’s traditional surfing lifestyle and culture. Experience Central Coast wines, artisan brews, local California farm-fresh and seaport-inspired cuisine, as well as great music, art, and the amiable coastal community. WW&B events take place at several scenic venues throughout Pismo Beach, Avila Beach and San Luis Obispo including:

Big Waves on the Big Screen 

Wednesday April 29 2015; 5:30pm
Historic Fremont Theatre, San Luis Obispo ($10 per person)

The historic Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo kicks off this 5-day event with a surf movie (to be announced). These epic movies are filled with community, culture, and surfing. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

Central Coast Veterans Golf Classic

Thursday April 30 2015; 9am Check-in/11am

Dairy Creek Golf Course, San Luis Obispo ($100 Entry Fee)

The Association of Amputee Surfers (AmpSurf) presents the Central Coast Veterans Golf Classic at Dairy Creek Golf Course. Invitees include Veterans, Active Military, Local Firefighters, Law Enforcement personnel and members of the community. Proceeds benefit wounded warriors, active military, disabled veterans, and others with disabilities through the efforts of the AmpSurf.  Entry fee includes: Greens Fees for 18 holes of golf; Golf cart; Range Balls; Snacks and Beverages at select hole. Rabobank’s Barrel to Barrel 

Friday May 1 2015; 5:00pm – 8:00pm 
The Cliffs Resort, Pismo Beach ($59 per person)

The party continues with Rabobank’s Barrel to Barrel Grand Tasting held on the ocean front lawn at the Cliffs Resort. Enjoy samples from over 50 visiting wineries, breweries and restaurants, a live performance by Aloha Radio, and bid on the WW&B themed auction. All proceeds benefit GleanSLO.

Winemakers Dinner: Celebrating the Harvest with GleanSLO 

Saturday May 2 2015; 5:00pm
Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort, Avila Beach ($85 per person)

Eat, drink and celebrate the harvest with GleanSLO at the inaugural Winemakers Dinner hosted at Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort. Enjoy an outstanding selection of local wines paired with a five-course gourmet meal created by the Boutique Hotels Collection Culinary Team lead by Executive Chef Wangard. This year’s Chefs Auction returns with opportunities to bid on custom meals prepared for four guests by SLO county’s finest chefs.

Still Frothy Surf Contest (LONGBOARD Contest)

Sunday May 3 2015; 7:00am
Pismo Pier, Pismo Beach ($30 per entry)

Rise and shine on Sunday morning for the Still Frothy Longboard Contest at the Pismo Beach Pier including men and women’s heats, Challenged Athletes heats, and local Winemakers & Brew Masters heats. Early sign up guarantees participation, however, entries will be accepted on the morning of the contest at the beach until 7am. This is a LONGBOARD contest and boards must be a minimum of 9’0”. Annual VW Classic Car Show

Sunday May 3 2015; 9:30am-3pm
Pismo Beach Pier, Pismo Beach, CA
(Free Spectator Admission)

Alongside the surf contest at the Pismo Beach Pier, is the Vintage VW Display of three classes of VW buses, bugs and other. Each class will be awarded winners based on three themes expressed by the car owners: “Beach Boulevard Cruiser” that is the VW most wanted to be seen cruising in;  “Beach Blanket Bingo Central” that is the VW most-equipped for an all day and/or all night beach party; and “Most Surf Safari Worthy” that is the VW most-equipped for driving in search of the perfect wave.

805 Classic Beach Party

Beach House at SeaVenture Resort, Pismo Beach

The 805 Classic Beach Party features a savory Central Coast BBQ, a festive Beer Garden featuring the brews of local favorite Firestone Walker Brewing Company, and a concert on the beach in front of the SeaVenture Resort Beach House.

WW&B Beneficiaries and Sponsors: Over the last five years Wine, Waves & Beyond has raised over $100,000 for local non-profit organizations like AmpSurf.  Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit GleanSLO.  GleanSLO is a program of the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County that connects farmers and backyard growers with volunteers, who will harvest fruits and vegetables for local food banks that would otherwise go to waste. The Still Frothy Surf Festival, a major sponsor of WW&B, is a contest created to motivate California’s youths to turn off their computers and video games and discover surfing.  More sponsors of the 6th Annual Wine Waves & Beyond include Boutique Hotel Collection, Rabobank, City of Pismo Beach, New Times, KCOY, Paso Robles Wine Country, and SLO International Film Festival.
